Low Back Pain Treatment

Back pain is one of the most common health complaints, affecting 8 out of 10 people at some point during their lives. The lower back is the area most often affected. For many people, back pain goes away on its own after a few days or weeks. But for others, the pain becomes chronic and lasts for months or years

Among people seeking low back pain treatment, most people choose chiropractic care as the primary form of non-surgical intervention and drugless therapy of choice.

Chiropractic low back pain treatment uses spinal adjustments to restore mobility to spinal joints restricted by tissue injuries stemming from repetitive stress and trauma such as accidents, sports injuries, poor ergonomics and chronic poor posture

Chiropractors call these areas of joint restriction asubluxation which is the medical term for ‘misalignment’. Simply put it is a vertebra out of place causing localised irritation of the surrounding tissues and nerve resulting in inflammation, pain and degeneration.

With chiropractic low back pain treatment, once pressure is taken off your disc, nerves and joints, symptoms improve and prevention of further wear and tear is achieved

Chiropractic low back pain treatment can also involve soft tissue work, stretching, and specific postural and strengthening exercises. If required, a spinal orthotic device called the Denneroll is also used to complement the spinal adjustments.

Low back pain treatment at Alpha Chiropractic can provide effective relief for acute cases. For chronic cases, depending on the outcome of their physical and x-ray examination may require treatment over a longer period to rehabilitate their spine. Each session builds on the previous adjustment to help rehabilitate the spine back to normal alignment and function leading to a healthier road to recovery.

Researchers continue to study spinal manipulation for low back pain treatment.

A 2010 review of 26 clinical trials looked at the effectiveness of different treatments for the management of a variety of musculoskeletal and non-musculoskeletal conditions. The authors concluded that spinal manipulation is effective in adults for acute, sub-acute and chronic low back pain.

A study performed in 2012 where adult patients with LBP of any duration who had not received chiropractic or manual therapy in the prior 3 months were recruited from multiple chiropractic practices in Switzerland. Patients with chronic and acute back pain both reported good outcomes and most patients with radiculopathy also improved.

As you can see low back pain treatment through chiropractic care is beneficial for the wellbeing of your spinal health.
