Causes of Lower Back Pain
There are numerous causes of lower back pain. Most often these are benign and mechanical in origin. These include repetitive strain like lifting or repetitive swinging movement like golf or hyper-extension as in gymnastics. Other factors like trauma such as a fall and sedentary lifestyles can also contribute to lower back pain.
If your lower back pain often re-occurs or is chronic, it could indicate structural misalignment of the lumbar spine or sacroiliac dysfunction. If you are experiencing numbness or sharp electric-like pain down the leg, it could be a disc injury or ‘slip disc.
Symptoms
For pain that is more intense, persistent, or associated with other symptoms like numbness, tingling, or referral pain may be caused by mild to moderate disc injury; facet syndrome, piriformis syndrome, or sacroiliac joint dysfunction. These conditions can be treated effectively with Chiropractic with good results.
Chiropractic Treatment
Chiropractic treatment for lower back pain involves spinal manipulation to restore normal spinal alignment, muscle tone, and nerve function, therefore promoting healing and recovery. In the course of treatment, aches and pain will reduce and a gradual return to normal activities can be achieved.
