Causes of Knee Pain
The cause of knee pain depends on the location, history of injury, and age of the individual. Knee pain that originates in the front, back, inner, outer, or inside of your knee all have different causes. These may be from arthritis, ligaments or meniscus tear, imbalance thigh muscles, or referral from the lumbar spine or sacroiliac joint. One of the most common knee pain that patients complain of is around or below the kneecap. This occurs due to an imbalance in the lumbar spine, sacroiliac joint, and thigh muscles. This condition is known as patella tracking syndrome.
Chiropractic Treatment
Your lumbar spine and pelvis will be evaluated due to their neural and bio-mechanical link to the knee. Ankle and foot are also checked for any dysfunction such as over-pronation, as it can also affect the knee joint.
X-rays may be taken to assess the condition and alignment of your knee.
Spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy, and exercise therapy to restore normal biomechanics and function of your knee.
If your knee condition is suspected to be caused by more serious pathology, your chiropractor will refer you to an orthopedic doctor for further evaluation.
